Gel Dispensing Printing (GDP) applies layers of a highly viscous gel from an extruder; once UV light hits the UV-sensitive material it is cured within seconds and solidifies into a hard polymer. The technology allows for building up 3-dimensional objects whose part size and printing speed excel those of most other additive technologies by far.

It is a characteristic of the technology to create complex hollow shapes with protruding features as well as overhanging geometries, non-vertical walls and ceilings without the supports usually required by large objects. In most cases the confining wall as kind of a hard skin will be sufficiently stable to carry the hollow object.
