Metal Coating (Electroplating):
Metal Coating by galvanizing or electroplating is the process of applying a metal coating to the surface of an object, usually referred to as the substrate, using electric current to reduce dissolved metal cations so that they form a thin coherent metal coating on an electrode. After applying a thin layer of conductive varnish, the part is put into a basin filled with warm water that has been nourished with nickel or copper particles. The process technology in use is a propietory development by FIT Additive Manufacturing Group, consisting of four basins containing 1,000 l each, able to be run at the same time. In spite of  FIT Additive Manufacturing Group's big capacities, this technology is environmetally sound as it is nearly effluent free. We are also the only company in Europe who can master metal coating free of contact.

The purpose of applying the covering layer may be merely decorative to evoke the impression of metal instead of a cheaper plastic material, or functional as it changes the properties of the surface, or both.
